Music!

"MYOOOZIC!!! If your interest is in synthesizers and other electronic music, projects, you need a 1973 catalogue" - lmnc

Yes, I've produced music too, and it's about what you'd expect from me! I released under the pseudonym System10 and my stuff mainly consists of breakbeat-influenced songs with an eclectic selection of samples. I don't take myself seriously at all, and that applies to music too! I've been producing since 2016 and I like to think I've improved since then... it's only a hobby after all :)

I have a natural ear for music, so when making stuff I literally just use my ear and go with my gut. I can't actually read music! I'm also lucky enough to have perfect pitch, but you probably couldn't tell by listening to my stuff...

These days I no longer produce, mainly due to being completely spent (only natural after a decade of near-constant production), personal circumstances, and having produced a mass of work comprising literal hundreds of unfinished ideas and unheard songs. It wasn't an easy conclusion to reach, but a steady reduction in monthly output, and the fact I last finished a song 8 months ago, is what made me realize.

I still listen to music all the time and attend our local record fair throughout the year, but when it comes to active production, that chapter's over and I'm now focusing on exploring my other creative endeavours. Music remains a big part of my life though, and I can't be without it!

Newest unfinished idea (20/11/2025)

HyperJam

13 jams done in GarageBand on my iPad, one after the other, at like 12am. These were all made between 2022-2023 and I didn't listen to any of them before starting; I forgot how they all went so I just opened them up and jammed to my heart's content.

Fun fact: 90% of these were made in bed! I used to use GarageBand as a scratchpad for ideas before I started bringing my laptop with me instead... also, the samples were recorded through my headphones by holding the microphone up against them. Very hi-fi biz :)

Every time I listen to "Manic" I remember that I actually have really high grades in music, and I just laugh.

OpenMPT jams

If I've made something that I really like the sound of, but can't flesh out into a full song idea, I'll have fun muting and unmuting the different channels and recording the result! I've heard these enough times, so it's only right that I finally share them.

OpenMPT is the only software I use for producing music, and it's been that way since 2016 when I first discovered it. Long story short, someone listed it as a MIDI conversion tool (which it is not), but then I figured out its proper usage. The moment I realized I could drag my own sounds and sequence them, everything quite literally changed...
